The us unemployment numbers went down by one this week, sort of. I stopped claiming my unemployment check because the run-around is pointless, embarrassing, and looking for work through them is futile. I'm cleaning houses of rich people for cash now. It pays the rent.

He got a job! And a good one to boot! Laid off for the last 5 months, applying to everything imaginable, and he got a decent job, with a decent company, making a hell of a lot more than he did anywhere else! So happy, we were barely staying afloat on his unemployment.

I love DH, but he's a manchild. I didn't really want to marry him, but I got pregnant (I was on depo provera, but I still conceived) and I married him because I was scared to raise the baby alone and because his job had awesome health insurance. Since then, he's been fired and has long bouts of unemployment. He doesn't clean up after himself, he smokes, plays online games all day, doesn't help much with the baby (who is 2 now), on and will probably never amount to anything. I feel like I ruined my life by marrying him and having a baby. When I get my degree, I'm leaving. I have 1 more year.

Has anyone had to do one of the unemployment interviews for going from the state program to the federal?? I have one this week and I am so nervous!

Up all night with a sick kid, I'm sick, stepped in cat puke, unemployment runs out next week, & somehow my tea bag opened & dumped tea when I made a cup. Monday do over please!!

I have been unemployed for 3 month. The schedule they offer would prevent me from going back to college (a dream of mine for 10 years which I already have in the works) if I decline the job my unemployment insurance stops. Damned if I do, damned if I dont.

I guess I would be able to deal with DH's unemployment if he would actually do something other than sitting in front of the tv. Apparently asking him to look for a job is too much for him emotionally at this time. But jeez - could he cook a meal, do some laundry, run a vacuum, move????

(Oops -- originally posted this in Body!) LIB is collecting unemployment (hasn't worked since October) so he still pays his half of the bills. I start work at 5 a.m. and the EARLIEST I've ever gotten home is 3 p.m. (I also often bring work home). He says because he pays his half, the housework can be 50/50. I think he should do more of it, since he has way more time and energy. We got into a big fight about it last night and now he's not speaking to me. A few minutes ago, he walked out and got in the car. Didn't say goodbye and I have no idea where he's going.

I moved with my husband overseas and gave up my career to do so. It is very difficult to find work in my situation but I make every effort to do so. He uses my unemployment to claim I do nothing which isn't true as I do housework and cooking. He has $2K discretionary income a mo. but he won't give me cash to buy groceries and I have to use my savings to pay the few bills I have and for any items I want. I have to nag the hell out of him to get him to buy things we need UNLESS it is something he wants. He wouldn't have a penny in savings if it weren't for my influence. It is 100% HIS money.
