I don't know how I managed it, but my FMIL and I get along incredibly well. I hear all sorts of stories here and elsewhere about nightmare MIL/DIL relationships, and I feel so very lucky.

I don't mind when people make their opinions and preferences known. It's just when they steamroll through with no respect for what we want that I have a problem. (For example, FMIL said "you know, it would be traditional to (insert something here)" and fiance said "That doesn't work for us, Mum". End of discussion. Beautiful. Respectful)

I had a terrible nightmare about FMIL last night. In it she popped up unannounced and screamed non-stop insults to my face while I stood there shocked and crying. This is pretty much a metaphor for our real-life relationship, which is why we have no contact. I'm glad she lives thousands of miles away, but the dream was still so upsetting.

I made a really good blueberry cake last night for dessert since we were having FMIL, FSIL and her boyfriend over for dinner. Everyone said my cake was good except for FMIL, she decided to let me know her cinnamon buns were much better than my cake and then guilted her kids into saying the same. Bitch.

I want to elope. I want to avoid my FMIL and her drama for the rest of my life. If we could get away with it we would elope and move so far away she'd never be able to visit.

I think my future MIL is a total fake. She always hated me, until we got engaged. Now she sucks up to me. No one can put their negative feelings aside that quickly. FMIL, you're not fooling anyone.
