Unusual baby names are everywhere.  Celebrities are famous for coming up with unique baby names like Apple and Pilot Inspektor.  Less common names have become more common compared to a few decades ago.  In the 1950s when the most common boy's name was James, an average 30 student first grade class would have had at least one.  For the most common boy's name of 2007, Jacob, it now takes six classes to find just one.  Researchers suspect this new naming trend indicates a shift in society towards emphasizing uniqueness and standing out.  According to researcher Jean Twenge, of San Diego State University, if this individualism is taken too far it could lead to narcissism.  Whether children with unique names end up with personalities that match, however, is not known and will be something researchers continue to study.  What do you think of this research, are we creating a generation of narcissists?

Is declawing really the biggest issue in animal abuse that we need to address?
