"Yesterday, we went to a friend's house with our 5 yr. old son. My friend's kids (8,10 yr. old boys) were playing Halo, a violent video game not allowed in our house - but played endlessly by these boys. I really think my friend's kids watch way too much tv and certainly play too many video games and I don't want my son to be around them. But these are our closest friends! What to do??
This mom brings up a pretty common dilemma -- You love your friends, but you don't like their parenting style. Do you keep your kids away from their kids? Do you just turn a blind eye and simply try to do the best on your own turf when you can control things?
